FABULOUS PLACE TO PLAY AND LEARN
We provide an environment which offers the opportunity to make choices and decisions, practice positive problem-solving strategies, and to engage in successful self-help activities.
Our indoor learning centers provide a variety of choices for students; from kitchen play to dress up, climb in our indoor tree loft or cozy up in the book corner.
In our outdoor environment, students explore water, sand, gardens, as well as strengthen gross motor skills on our play structures and bike course.
HANDS-ON, MULTI-SENSORY APPROACH
Our teachers demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in planning developmentally appropriate activities. They plan materials and activities to promote growth and development of the whole child.
Teddy Bear Preschool provides instruction and opportunities in the areas of art, music, science & discovery, cooking, dramatic arts, math/logic and language/literature. Children are encouraged to explore, manipulate, create, initiate discussions, and draw conclusions while immersed in these activities.
In lieu of field trips, we bring the community to us. We schedule visits from our fire department, police
department, our local librarian, pediatric dentist, musicians, and others who engage the children in informative and entertaining presentations.
KINDERGARTEN PREP PROGRAM
In addition to our regular program, we offer a Pre-K program to those students who are in their final year of preschool before entering Kindergarten.
One component of our Pre-K program is the “Get Set For School Program.” It includes math, language, and literacy activities that are implemented daily and are designed to immerse your child into the wonderful world of letters and numbers.
Other elements include: Scholastic “My Big World” activity booklets, “Let’s Find Out” packs, and “Science Spin” booklets.
TRACKING PROGRESS & ACHIEVEMENTS
Each child has a developmental portfolio which contains information we have obtained through observation and interaction. The teacher who handles your child’s portfolio will be observing, taking notes, and planning activities to encourage your child’s development in the following areas: social/emotional, physical, music/movement, language/literacy, and math/logic.
Every year in June, we conduct parent/teacher conferences for each family. Besides the conferences, our teachers share with parents whenever they have a moment with you. We love letting you know how your child is thriving at preschool.
